MOVING FORWARD

I seriously can't get enough of Chester's music. Each time I'm on my computer, I would find myself on his Soundclick page listening to his streaming demos. Oh what inspiration! Last Sunday, I had the chance to watch him play for Victorian Days, a musical based in Singapore in the year 1890 that spoke of a young doctor who devoted his life to public service after a bereaving encounter of a singing girl. This beautiful piece was book-written by local veteran Stella Kon and the music was composed and arranged by Chester.

After the show, I cheekily asked Grace if she could make me like him in the next 5 years! Hah! If you love the sound of New-Age Instrumental piano, do dig some Chester man! According to this website, his 2nd album Piano Spa is available at That CD SHOP. I'm so going to buy it this weekend! Who's coming with me?

Oh and before I forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAZLYN! I did not forget!

Tim and I performed an unplugged session at Zouk alongside with Poetry Slam. The performance was crap, considering the fact that I could audibly hear my voice going so off in the presence of a class-sized audience! Ahhhhhh!

MUSIC & LOVE

Singaporean Chester Tan writes beautiful melodies. And he reminds me of Kevin Kern - a renowned new-age pianist whose international acclaimed pieces include Sundial Dreams, Through The Arbour and Bittersweet.

Check out Chester Tan's piano composition here.

I can't say that I've failed; I can only say that I've tried.

UNTITLED

The saddest people are those who could not speak.

They're too exhausted - to cry.

FEELING ZILCH

In you, I conceal myself under your wings and embrace your comfort. It has to be that tangible warmth within your literally invisble love. Standing low, I find myself too exhausted to steal a second peek outside your coat. I pick myself up from rocky grounds. Slowly and surely, your hands carefully sweep off the sands on my blistering wounds. As I secretly shed a tear, you hold my hands and you whisper to my ears tenderly.

Have forgotten my past? Stained and ugly. And you affirm that the past matters no more. You smile at my swollen and beatened eyes and you kiss me on my cheek. I cringe immediately. It is that strange feeling I once felt before. More than mere physical contact. It has to be you.

It is you - my Father.

CANCER

I received an email about cancer prevention. Boy, how it freaks me out! If you're a health fanatic, here goes.

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These
cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests
until they have multiplied to a few billion. When
doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more
cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just
means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells
because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times
in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the
cancer cells wi! ll! be destroyed and prevented from
multiplying and forming tumours.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person
has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be
due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle
factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies,
changing diet and including supplements will
strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the
rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys
rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow,
gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ
damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also
burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and
organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation
will often reduce tumour size. However prolonged use
of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more
tumour destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from
chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either
compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb
to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells
to mutate and become resistant and difficult to
destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread
to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the
cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it need
to multiply.

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it
cuts off one important food supply to the cancer
cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal,
Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is
harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka
honey or molasses but only in very small amounts.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially
in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer fe! ed! s on
mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with
unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved.
Milo, Ovaltine, Horlicks are made with milk and best
avoided.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A
meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish,
and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat
also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones,
parasites, etc which are all harmful to people with
cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice,
whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits helps
put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20%
can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh
vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily
absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15
minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy
cells.

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have
caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has
cancer-fighting properties.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a
lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in
the intestines become putrefied and leads to more
toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering.
By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more
enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells
and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the
cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6,
Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins,
minerals, EFAs etc) to enable the body's own killer
cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements
(Maitake e.g.) are known to cause cancer cells
apoptosis, that is, induce cancer cells to commit.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.
A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer
warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and
bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic
environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving
spirit. Learn to relax, enjoy and trust God for
healing.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated
environment. Exercising daily and deep breathing help
to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen
therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer
cells.

17. Cancer can be reversed with nutrition, supplements
and clinically proven complementary and alternative
therapies.

18. Cancer can be healed by divine intervention of God
the Healer.

LAIR OF MISTRESS RANDOMOUSITY

BY SPECIAL REQUEST

What the hell is Lair of Mistress Randomousity? Did I spell it correctly? Or was it Randomomiscuous? Like Promiscuous eh?

Hah!

Trust me, it was pure madness talking to you. I've never said this to anyone before. At least not until tonight! You were literally like on an adrenaline high dominating half the conversation. And please, next time don't tell me that you're speaking to me whilst fixing your ass on the toilet bowl! Like what the hell! Oh, I'm afraid I won't be able to join you at Sentosa as much as I would love to. Thanks for the invitation anyway. Bikini girls no longer have an effect on me anymore. Not until .. ahem never mind.

Oh cheeky me! Muhahahah..

And I might catch your play at NAFA this sunday. The word is might. Will let you know again. Gee, you're making me all cracking up! It's all your fault! Till then, seeya!

THE RIGHT MELODY

My first piano lesson went better than expected! So I'm a tenor who stretches two octaves with a clean tone. I reckoned that was a compliment. Grace was absolutely beautiful and eloquent. And she bedazzles like magic when sings! I seriously can't wait for friday to see her and Tim. Oh, especially Tim!

Woots!

I'll be performing a couple of unplugs with Tim next Tuesday, 27th June @ Zouk. So do come down to support TIM if you can. And Tanya, are you coming to watch us? Bring Amanda along if you're coming okay? Hah. And what's with castles and bikini tanning?! It's getting me flabbergasted!

Smirks & ..

Smacks off boys and girls (:

PHEW

I'm totally desensitized.

A BRAND NEW START

Yesterday was past and I must must must embrace the future!

*Beams*

I've finally received my posting. And EVERYONE hates me because I've been posted to SAF-OETI as a AUTO-TECH! I'm still wondering what that means. So after some enquiry from the lao-jiaos (old birds), it seems to me that OETI involves mechanical repair and maintenance as well as logistics and detailing. Well, the word TECH seriously connotates a very UNGLAM standing but the best part of this job is that I need not stay in! In other words, I get to return home everyday and I get to have my own time! Comparing myself to the rest of my platoon dudes, I'm dazed to learn that many of my mates are posted to become Combat Engineers, which is a considerably tough vocation. Now you know why EVERYBODY hates me!

I'm so blessed!
Thank you God!

After some serious thought, I came up with a list of things to do accomplish by the end of this year. Enough of my lazy bum and all that complacency! Let's kick some asses!

Firstly, I will be getting my driving license. Night classes, weekend classes, whatever it takes to earn me a license on the road. My parents have agreed to sponsor the fees. I want a Peugeot 206CC. Smirks!

Next, I will go take up some serious piano lessons. I must be able to compose on the piano by the end of this year.

Thirdly, my demo recordings must be ready. I've been procrastinating too much! And thankful for my involvment in the musical theatre society, it has gotten me to know really talented people like Ken, August and Federick. So 'technical support' should come in handy! And do take the time to check out Federick's compositions cus I thought they were pretty outstanding!

We had a cast party this evening. And it was just fabulous with Tim around. Ahem.

MY MELANCHOLY

We just broke up. How long did we last - 9 months or 10? I can't really remember. We started off as sweet as honey and we ended the journey awkwardly bitter. Well, at least not as bitter as many of the previous. But it was bad enough to leave me speechless, cheerless, crestfallen, whatever. It seems to me that my other past experiences had not immuned me to this pain.

If this was all planned from the start, why do I still feel this way? Am I not getting what I want? Guess sometimes we don't know what we have, till we lose what we have got.

Forgive me, girl.

LOW NIGHT

Extract penned earlier.

Venue: Cafe, Orchard Library

I finally came to realise why some of the songs by Westlife would captivate me so much. If you ever land yourself in a situation whichby a song could accurately illustrate your exact emotions, you'll probably understand what I meant. Radio love songs could instantly sound like the most fatuous and silly thing. Who know? There might come a day when you realise you could actually identify with some thing you once thought of as cheesy.

SPIN ME A VIDEO

Editing videos on my computer is such a drag! Firstly, I can't install the latest version of Adobe Premiere cus my system does not run on duel-core processor. Sony Vegas bugs me to pay for an unavailable video codec. Ulead Videostudio however runs relatively smooth on my system, albeit some occasional lags.

To start with, my machine is built upon the following:
  • AMD Athlon 2600+ (overclocked to 2 Ghz)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • Geforce 2 MX 400
  • Creative Live SoundBlaster 5.1
Can someone tell me if its that bad?

I bet a Mac with similar configurations will yield better results. Check out the 9th Division Infantry Roar which we performed during the Passing Out Parade last week! It may look really silly at first, but our united spirit surely deserved commending!

I had a rush to write a melody yesterday so I hopped over to Joyce's place (which is a bus stop away from where I live) to fiddle with her piano.

Will somebody please donate me one?

And there I was clearing my chunks of junk when I came across several postcards which were tinted with colourful ink. I took a closer look and found this.

After that, I was contemplating if I should put these together into the recycle bin. I put them aside in the end.

BREATHERS

The block leave is drawing to an end. The schedule will soon be sardine-packed with more strenuous and retarded physical training. Last night, the lot of us headed down to Ministry Of Sound to catch a breather. We won't have much air to breathe after this sunday anyway. And since then, I've only had 3 hours of sleep.

Grr..

I'm almost dying of exhaustion but there's world cup later tonight and I'm catching it at Holland Village with the boys.

This is madness!

Anyway, I was pleasantly greeted by a letter this morning. MDC (aka SAF Music Drama Company) has written to say that I've been scheduled a 2nd audition this September.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

However, the only criteria to join MDC is a PES-C status. Seems like there's something for me to work on eh? Smirks! I've been hearing stories of how straight guys become gay in MDC. It definitely has to do with the liberal and promiscuous culture, they say. I wonder if those rumours are true. Heh.

SOCCER FEVER

If you were helplessly dragged by your bunch of old school friends into KFC with some miserable 6 bucks in your pocket, what would you order?

Friend W - with CAPS, would get himself some really tasty burgers ..

BANDWIDTH NOT ENOUGH

You probably have tried and still unable to access the photo gallery. I guess this should explain. Grrr...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Okay, three things I can do now.

1) Look for a free site that offers a higher bandwith
2) Register a personal domain and pay for it
3) Turn a blind eye to the situation

Oh, please tell me what to do?!
