THE HEART OF WORSHIP

Last Saturday, I've received something from the sermon Pastor Kong preached. He said that very often as we serve, we perform out of our own interests, pride, recognition and self-gratification. So this weird little idea so suddenly conceived in my head.

I thought that instead of just parading on Youtube, I should really do something for people. Like teaching others to play? And thus, I recorded this video earlier on. It's an instructional video on playing HEART OF WORSHIP on the acoustic guitar. Though it isn't exactly what I would term a quality video, I believe it could still bless someone!

So do check it out, if you're into THE HEART OF WORSHIP!

Nothing serious here but just a mere food for thought. Have you ever been afraid to reveal your past to someone you love for fear that you might be rejected? It's kinda silly isn't it? Hah.

Thanks Chad for sparing a listening ear. I love what he said, "there's no such thing as a prince charming or a dream girl; it never existed and never will; so get over it!"

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Sometimes I always think that I know everything about love. But the truth is, I've only caught a few glimpses of it. Hah.

PS: I would still tell the truth because you mean something to me.

THE RUN THAT KILLED ME

I thank God that I'm still alive (though not exactly kicking) after the SAFRA Sheares Bridge Run & Army Half Marathon which spanned a distance of 12km and 21km respectively.

As a matter of fact, a 25 year old Army Captain collapsed and died earlier this morning.

It's really sad news. You can read the full story here.

Here are 3 things that could have landed me with the same fate.
  1. I drank a bottle and a half of Heineken the night before at Brekos cafe cus beer's just that cheap!

  2. I only had my dinner at 12.15AM!

  3. I slept at 1 AM and woke up at 3.20AM.
So thank God for His protection. And if you're looking for a set of nice numbers to buy for 4-D next week, you should consider this!

EVERY LITTLE THING

I have to honor to deliver a heartfelt You Raised Me Up by Josh Groban to bless the teachers and children of GEMS church on Teachers' day. And I'm so excited to serve because it makes me gleeful supernaturally.

I have learnt that each time we serve, we can boldly remind God of His promises. God is never too early nor too late. He delivers what He promise at His own perfect timing. Nevertheless, I would always pester God with my ranting prayers when I grow impatient. Hah. And I also learnt that God is never tired of hearing prayers. Strangely enough, He loves our prayers - even whinny ones.

Matthew 6.33 says "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Matthew 10 : 29 - 31, "Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

So very often, I would reason with God like this,

My coolest Daddy in the world, please understand (as you can see) that I'm financially broke now because I've decided to show love to my brother in obedience to you. Just last week, I bought David a $30 book by Joyce Meyer to strengthen his faith and treated him to a meal at Fish & Co to soften his heart. PS: He wanted Fish & Co when I asked him to choose freely. Shucks! I also took the extra faith last Saturday to put an extra $20 into the offering bag because I felt so blessed by your word two Sundays ago. I thank you that David is responding to your love now!

Father, you know my pockets are empty but I'm not in lack. Because You're Jehovah Jireh my Provider. You are the Creator of this Universe and all the riches in the world belongs to you. You say that I'm more worthy than sparrows for even you feed them. What more, me your precious child and heir of your kingdom? As I continue to serve and seek your Kingdom, you promise to add unto me all that I need. Propers me financially, grant to me favour from men and opportunities to do well at my workplace. Give me the social influence that I need so that I can be effective for you.

And then I'll wait and look forward to a harvest. (:

THE GOD IDEA

It's half past 12 now but I could not get to sleep because my hair is still wet from a bath. I just came back home not too long ago from Prayer Meeting at Expo. And boy, I dozed off in the bus till I miss my stop and had to take another bus back. Shucks! But I'm thankful that I had attended PM. There is a song that goes like this, "Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere." Truly, dwelling and worshiping in the presence of God together with the body of Christ is euphoric. It's more than the hype, excitement and the stirring up of hearts. These things are important but what's more vital is the receiving of His love and peace that so simply melts your heart like chocolate in an oven.

I'm glad to be part of something that is far greater than myself. And I call it the Kingdom of Heaven. An invisible Kingdom yet.

I have a friend who thinks that Christianity is a set of man-made teachings solely catered for the hopeless and broken hearted. He calls them the false hopes and insist that the bible are mere stacks of letters manipulated by ancient man to alleviate the sufferings of the weak and dying who accept these false hopes. The skeptics could debate till the cows go home.

Science could not prove that God exist. Neither could science disprove of God's existence. It's somewhat a bet really. At the end of our lives, if my friend was right about his hypothesis, neither of us will lose out anything. But if my God is true, then - oh boy - my friend would have everything to lose.

BOREDOM

Guard Duty .. guard duty .. guard duty

Those words have been ringing in my head since this morning. The thought of duty is depressing me. Perhaps the RPs are immune to such torture since they perform duty every single day of their 2 years liability. In my opinion, boredom is cruelty. But the only benefit is that this vocation prepares you to become future condominium security guards.

Ahh..
that opens a career path for some!

Okay, I know I'm being caustic and mean here. Pardon my imprudence.

Just last week, I attended my Aunt's wedding dinner which was held at CHIJMES. Framed by a magnificent historical building, graceful cobblestone walkways, and a cascading fountain, the restaurant appeared to be a cathedral once. The interiors were intricately crafted and lit with lamps that resemble those used by medieval royalty. The vicinity was scenic and it did leave an impression.

Hah. The best part? She was married to an Irish. So we'll be expecting some form of Eurasian babies soon.

For myself, I'll have some hybrid Singapore-Japan babies if fate permits me to meet Saori. And when I get married, I'll invite you to CHIJMES! Hah.

SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE

I just did a cover of SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE by Christian City Church!

Do check it out and let me know what you think!

SO MANY THINGS

There are so many things on my hands; I wish I have 48 hours a day and the motivation to complete them. I'm multi-tasking like a mad man on Firefox and have yet to cut my nails. Oh sheesh! I know I'm gabbling like a little girl but no I'm not having my period - and for that matter - I have never had menstruation. But my ever first girlfriend told me that if she had the choice, she would sterilize herself. So I guess that's pretty bad.

I'm actually feeling kinda hungry now. Because home-cooked fried rice sucked and I only had a small portion earlier on. The tragedy is this: I'm too lazy to cook a packet of instant noodles for myself and I badly need a girlfriend to do it for me.

** DOMESTIC PARTNERS WANTED **

Recently, I downloaded the Mighty To Save album by Hillsongs and was blown away by the songs. As a matter of fact, I was equally amazed and ashamed after listening to them. I was amazed because the lyrics were so well-written and the melodies were so heart-touching. Also, the arrangements of the songs were simply brilliant and balanced. The electric leads, drums, vocal harmonizing were just astonishing. In my heart, I battled, how can a human being ever write something like that? At that very moment, I recognized that these are the works of ordinary human beings who serve an extraordinary God. Right away, I praised God! The bible says that we are created in His image and therefore exhibit glimpses of His character, talents and abilities. What a creative God I have! I must be a real lucky child! Hah. Now the ashamed part is this. I looked at my own works and discover that they were a far cry from the songs in Mighty To Save. I might sound a little ambitious but - hey! - now you know the real Kelvin! Hah.

The bible talks about using our talent for God's Kingdom. If you can talk, tell the world about Jesus. If you can write, pen a testimonial about God's goodness. If you can sing, bless the stage with angelic voices. If you are drop-dead sexy, be of an Esther to your nation. Nobody lights a candle and put it in under a bowl or put a million dollar bill under soil.

Ahhhh .. I rediscover the need to write more quality and anointed songs for His Majesty! A quality song makes a listener groove. But an anointed song brings the listener's heart closer to Jesus. I want both!

How greedy of me!

And this time we were YUMSENG-ing not with beer but Starbucks's blended Java chip!

FESTIVAL OF PRAISE

Festival of Praise was great! Were you there?

The objective for this meeting is to gather the body of Christ in one accord to pray for our nation and sing regardless of denominations. When people question about the various denominations, I typically reply them this, We share the same grandfather Abraham, but we have different fathers. Some dads like rock & roll while some prefer jazz and new-age. And though we might operate in different styles, we do the same thing actually.

International artiste Don Moen and Delirious led us in a refreshing time of praise & worship. Rev. Phil Pringle, founder of Christian City Church (Australia) delivered the sermons for all three nights. And boy - Delirious was awe-inspiring. I love their works! Now, I'm actually considering purchasing their CD legally. Hah.
