GROUND ZERO

It has been sometime since I last blogged. In fact, it has been over a week. And thank God I'm alive and kickin after speeding up and down the twirling hills of Genting Highland. Some photos coming up. But not so soon. Hah.

Anyway, I have alot to write. But as I sit in the dark outside whilst sipping to ice tea, feeding the mosquitos and embracing the sound of water splashing, I can't help but feel glutted inside out. Today's a friday night. What on earth am I doing at home contemplating and reasoning to myself? The initial plan was to catch the movie 300 at 9PM. But I allowed it to pass me by for a reason unclear to me.

I enjoyed last week's sermon by Sy Rogers. And I'm wholely blown away by his personal conviction of God being bigger than big. And I loved the way he spoke and related on his memorial stones that brought him to the place he is today. In the book of Joshua 4: 1 - 24, the memorial stones commemorate Israel's crossing of the Jordan. It existed to remind of God's faithfulness when the children asked of their fathers "What do these stones mean?" Rogers addressed the congregation, "Build your own memorial stones, so that one day when you fall into the pitts of the darkest valley beatened, you can look back at your stones and be encouraged and affirmed of God's character and his imminent mighty hands to save." Upon reflection, I have accessed and amassed my own stones and I'm ready to put them down perhaps on the next entry. Hah. This is truly exciting.

Now, for the photos and some musings over the Genting trippin'!

With the folks! Pardon me for I was feeling immensely retarded! Must be the weather!

Hotel New World. It was an in-house contained amusement centre. Somewhat like a fusion of Great World City, Ngee Ann City and Cineleisure. The place was packed with lots of young Malaysian school teen couples. Basically I was ambling around seeing kids holding hands. It was an ahem .. sight to behold! Hah.

I was roaming around the place like a dinosaur looking for a place to pee. Walking up to the top from New World, I was fascinated by some of the things I saw. It was about 9.30 AM and there was actually a parade conducted by the Malaysian Polis (or Police)! Hah.

Also, I went into the Casino and wasted some money on Jackpot. The Casino was old but it was poshly furnished and brightly lit with lustrous crystal lightings. The place was filled with middle aged people, gambling addicts look-alike, china-man in suits, seemingly Singaporean Chao Ah Bengs and even grannys in wheelchair. I shit you not! You'll be surprised to know that the mean age of these gamblers is over 40 years old. And I felt like the youngest member there. PS: The security personnel even had to check my ID!

The weather was pretty chilly there. The temperate at the hotel lobby read 16 degrees celsius and almost everyone was seen donned in their jackets. I bet it was colder outside. Maybe about 12 or even lower? The night was especially cold. And mist started to surface by about evening time. There was one night the chill was so bad it gave a piercing sensation. Ouch! It was obvious that every building relied on the cold air outside to replace any form of air conditioning. If only we could have that back in Singapore!

I was flipping through my bible during the intervals back in my hotel room. The book of Revelations - oh how it scares! I also bought myself a tee, a tweety bird mask (which I have planned to use in a video shoot to be posted in youtube, so stay tune!) and a lame-ass cap embedded with an illuminated flashing dino on the top.

I reckoned this was a pirated 7-11 convenience store. 7-7! Hah!

I treated myself to a movie Primeval on the last night which costed me only 10RM - about S$4.50. And for an extra 5RM, I got an awful tasting popcorn, drink, biscuits and a chocolate bar. It was so bad I only took a bite.

It was a short 3 day break for me from the world. Thank God for safety and everything possible up there!

VACATION

I'll be heading for Genting this sunday and will only return on Wednesday. You guys better miss me. Ha. I guess I need a vacation and some space on my own. But it seems that there's nothing more than the theme park and the casino. I guess I'll be hanging out more at the latter as I've got some serious phobia of heights. I remember how I was screaming my lungs out the other time we took the roller coast at Kuala Lumpur. Oh gee! I don't think I would want to put myself in that position again! Hah.

PS: Will take lotsa photos!

And how is it possible to love someone without first meeting that person? I just don't understand! Pardon my witching hour musings. I hope they do not irk you as much as they do me.

GIRLS & MUSIC

I love girls too much to be gay. Hah. I supposed that's super random.

Anyway, I'm pretty high lately due to the sudden blast of endorphins released in my brain from all the exercising. And it can be really addictive. They call it the Runners' High. Hah.

I realised there're 3 songs that I can almost keep in my iPod forever cus they never bore me no matter how much I listen to them - even on repeat mode for hours! Let me know if you share the same sentiments.

The Scientist - Coldplay
23 - Jimmy Eat World
Run - Snow Patrol

And as I began to examine, I discovered that these 3 songs share a common trait. All contain a trance-like progressive pattern that paces the melody on and on. And every song exceeds the average duration of 4 1/2 minutes. Some musing eh!

Having a musical background is generally perceived as an asset to many, if not - all. Liken a coin with two faces, this asset has its share of peeve. Let me explain. When I listen to a certain song, my mind would automatically attempt to decode its arrangement and slice the song into its different layers. Oh the drums comes in first, then the bass solo, next the acoustic guitar picking followed by a second electric guitar with heavy distortion and tremolo tones. It can be a torture really because it somewhat prevents you from appreciating the song for the song itself. Subsequently, my mind would decipher the chord progression and the type of chord and effects used.

So perhaps, it can be good thing to love music without knowing so much. ((:

LOVE FROM THE FATHER

The bible talks about how every believer has a part to play in the kingdom of God. And unmistakably, God creates each and every individual different and also lovingly bestows diverse talents and abilities so that we can effectively serve and administer in the various areas of ministry which ultimately edifies the body and exalt the name of Christ Jesus. How can the hand say to the head, I don't need you? Or the feet to the eyes, I'm more significant that you. But we know that all things work together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.

No one's being propagandalistic here. But I've learnt that there is no better way to share the love than to influence the world with our actions, thinking and reception? God gives us a heart to love, a soul to belong and a mind to evaluate and think common sense out of this world we live in. I'm so glad I have annointed pastors who dare dream big and to challenge the odds. And I thank God for them.

I was casually telling Ping a couple of days ago about how I was better at inviting back-slided christians back to church than bringing in non-converts. And he retorted with a smirk saying that maybe I was made for that purpose. It really does sound funny to be liken to a backslider counsellor, steward, facilitator or whichever. Hah.

CRAZY FRIDAY

I decided that I needed a breather. (Not that sort of breather ahem) So I escaped home after dinner at 10PM and headed to West Coast Park Mac Donalds with Jasmine to ride on some legal airwaves.

Legal
, I repeat. Hah.

Anyway, I love to submerge myself in the bustle of city crowds that never seem to bother about those across adjacent tables. I enjoy the silent attention and the respect of privacy when everyone else is doing their own thing. In fact, majority of the people here are made up of the young and restless working adults, students apparently from NUS and ahem .. bandwidth leechers like myself.

Nevertheless, it's Friday night. So let's just chill! And I think I'm getting too comfortable here to leave my seat. So if last bus leaves, I might just have to walk home and feel sorry over my stupid decision.

Earlier on, I was just asking God, How can this be? I reasoned that this can't happen cos she's literally a thousand miles from where I am. Then God replied, why do you limit me?

And this actually brought me back to yesterday's evening when my Staff Sergeant shocked with me this question, So Kelvin, do you have a girlfriend?

Taken by surprise I retorted, No, why ask?

Then he commented, How come don't have? Nowadays so many girls. Somemore, you're a stay-out personnel, can change girlfriend everyday wat.

I chose to roll my eyes to contain my laughter. Ha.

A TWISTED VERSION

Ping just sent me the coolest picture of all time. NEWSWEEK should consider putting this on print on their next issue. Heh.

Some reminiscence of the younger days? Now, that's one helluva fat pink ranger. Hah!
