BOO

I feel super broke after spending 200 bucks on a B-Band 3.2 acoustic guitar preamp. And another 100 bucks on some supplements. I diagnosed myself with impulsive shopping disorder. And I need a doctor. Because I have already thought of what I want to get next month after the pay rise. Oh dear..

Some weeks back, I received a mail from my friend in Japan. And it was something really surprising!

Candies from Japan!

Why do girls like giving candies? Write cards, design bookmarks or bake cookies - for that matter?

Recently I was browsing a forum which talks about the behaviour of males and females and how we often react differently to various circumstances. Could the myth be true that men were once from mars and the ladies from venus? Oh boy!

The following excerpt is one example:

When a women confides in a man, the latter often puts on the advisor hat when all she wants is a listening ear.

When I read that, I was like ... is that true? I didn't know anything like this?

So one guru recommended that we read this book titled, What Women Want Men To Know by Barbara De Angelis to find out more.

Hah. I'm tempted to grab a copy to study more of the feminist eccentric antics.

TRUE

Someone requested for the lyrics, so here's it.

TRUE

I know that you're around
Don't even try to hide
Cus i see you here
I can feel that you miss me

And I'm trying to figure out
How this all started
What are the words to say
If I know, I would tell you

Is this for real don't fool me
I can't wait another day
And I'm slowly going crazy without you here

I'm gonna close my eyes and count to 10
As I'm waiting patiently
Or I could talk to myself and pretend that you're here
Are you feeling the way I do

I'm gonna close my eyes and count to 10
Maybe I'll see you when I do
I want to be there for you I'll carry you through
In this life time this is true
This is true

I CAN'T BREATHE

I decided to blog now, with the little spare time I have before turning in. This is miraculous. And I don't think the background song fits this title but - oh anyhow!

This is more of a ranting entry.

So do bear with me while I churn my invisible angst into something literate. Because right now, I'm feeling immensely lousy, stifled and chocked to the brim with all the work crap that I purposefully pack my time with. I'm finding myself to be reaching home after 9 almost every *** damn awesome night. And yes, I leave my house at half past 6 every morning. So that leaves me with some 2 hours of free time every day after work. And it's causing me to be a little edgy now. During the weekends, the time was spent working on projects, meeting people and doing things that seem to be of a higher calling and a greater purpose. And with all that accompanies a rupture of quick temperedness and a mental exhaustion.

And just yesterday, I made the most insincere apology to an outlander - gasp a pastor ! - who complained that I was disrespectful. And the episode was so ugly bittersweet, it could sweep every award off the Oscars.

For the record, I am indignant. Very.

So for God's sake, stop calling me to rush me of datelines and telling me what to do when and what.

SUNDAY ACOUSTICS

Jon and myself will be playing at BEN & JERRYS again on the 29th April, Sunday at 5pm or 6pm. (TBC)

It's going to be - as usual - an duo acoustic set.

So do drop by if you're free!

And check out my name here! So happy! Hah!

SHORT FILM

I was smitten by a spate of sadness after spending an hour and a half writing my play script at Raffles City Burger King over dinner.

=...(

Presently, I'm working with Ping on a short film that will be used for a competition. And I must say that this is an extremely depressing story, inspired by actual events.

This afternoon, I recorded a draft background soundtrack. It is basically a simple piano playing with some Phaser to set the mode. As I listen to it now, it just gives me the blues and forcing tears out of my eyes.

BUSY LIFE

I feel so busy.

But I'm trying to slow down to catch up with life.

There's this really funny thing about me. I love a busy lifestyle, one that perpetually requires me to travel around and meet new people. It's funny that it makes me happy because I feel useful and that my time is precious to other people.

It certainly beats lazing at home and wondering what to do next. It makes me feel like a fat rat.

Oh dear, this is bad thinking.

CHRISTIAN PROSPERITY

The weekend has been awesome!

I call it the Double Hit Combo - Good Friday and Easter! *BANG BANG*

And I was truly truly truly blessed by the drama and the preaching of the Word which actually shed some revelation. When we are saved by the blood of Christ, 4 things have taken, is taking and will be taking place. Of which, I'm going to talk about money!
  1. We can receive eternal life as our sins are forgiven
  2. We can be free from the bondages of the world (eg demonic obsession, carnal compulsion, psychological complexity)
  3. We can be healed of physical sickness
  4. We can be prosperous as we break away from the curse of insufficiency
The thing is that most people only acknowledge the first 3 and reject the forth which they deemed as worldly or secular. Contrary to public opinion, driving a Mercedes Benz, donning a Versace coat or living in a million dollar mansionate do not make you any less a disciple of Christ.

This is the tricky part.

Most people associate holy people to modest living people whom perhaps survive on the bare minimum. But sadly, that is of a paganistic mindset. I've an ex-girlfriend who held on (or is possibly still holding on) to the perception of that. That explains the ex-girlfriend part. As far as finance is concerned, we believe that God is a giver, has been a giver and will always be a giver (due to His character) just as He had given the entire earth and placed it under Adam's charge. And he told Adam to tend and to eat of anything he desired.

The bible has time and time again reveals God to be a generous God. He is not a billionaire Donald Trump who invests around the world and splurge on every material blink blink He craves. Philippians 4:19 tells us that God shall supply all our need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 3 John 2 says "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers". 1 Timothy 4:8 reads, "For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come".

Now, I'm not preaching a prosperity gospel as you may argue.

The fact is that God loves and wants to give. Remember God is a giver and our provider. And the word give is the 2nd most frequent word used in the New Testament. Love is the first. Having acknowledged the fact that we can be rich in spirit, health and finance as heirs of His kingdom, that does not necessarily reflect that we serve money to win God over. Or vice versa.

The fact is, God doesn't drop money from the sky! And the sad truth is that we do not become rich monetarily the moment we believe in Jesus! Hah.

Now, the bible tells us that godly principles is profitable for all things. And when we are faithful to apply them in our lives (not primarily to seek fortune in exchange), God's blessings will pour over us like an endless river stream. Look, godly principles are called godly principle for a reason. Nobody needs to tell you that doing the wrong things are far easier than choosing the right. And when we are faithful to keeping His word which often requires mountain-sized faith and sacrifices, He will be faithful in His promise. Simple as that!

The moment of truth *drum rolls* ...

Let's look back at this once powerful and influential man called King David of the old testament. David grew up as a modest shepard boy and possibly the first person in the Guinness book of record to ever slay a giant some three times his own size. God called him a man after his own heart. Now that title is some big deal! Shall we now flippantly discredit him because he probably moved about the city in his Mercedes Benz alike chariot? Or scorn him for his Versace silk robes? Or accuse him for living in a mansionate-like palace that was filled with gold and precious metal?

I believe that if our hearts are willing, God would want to raise up the many Davids of the old testament in this generation.

Hah. Something for you to think about this week!

GOOD FRIDAY

Today is Good Friday! And it is such a joy because .. *drum rolls*

Firstly, we get a day off work!

Secondly, we celebrate God's love for us!

Thirdly, we paint easter eggs like little children!

Yes! I was painting easter eggs and making gifts with the girls in the afternoon. And I can never believe I actually painted some eggs because to me, that was an excruciatingly gay thing to do for a guy! But the whole activity was fruitful despite having produced several ugly painted ones (due to certain aesthetic incompetence .. ahem hah) And I actually acquired and mastered some form of patience and feminism after crushing one empty egg shell with my butterfingered hands!

There was the Good Friday service in the early evening and I teared 3 times during the drama screening, which was obviously heart-wrenching and yet immensely touching! Again, I can never believe that I'm such an emo freak. That explains emo-kevino as bestowed by our lovely Sandy. People cry when they can't contain a certain surge of emotion. And hence the body weeps as it releases. It was quite an awkward moment as tears streamed down my face in the middle of the hall. I had to discreetly wipe them off so as to avoid looking excessively unstable to the both strangers beside me. Heh. The drama was well-crafted with passionate acting and impressive props but I find it especially special because it depicted so much of humane traits in Jesus as compared to those which I've seen that made him appear 90% God and 10% man.

We celebrated Miranda's birthday after that!

And also Charmaine's!

FALLING FOR YOU

I hate that same old feeling when you hopelessly fall for someone so special. That same old vulnerability that cringes your spine and endlessly sets you thinking if she would love you back in the end. That same old stifling grasp that forces you to simmer or risk another heartbreak. That same old i love you that resonates by your ears as you close your eyes and put yourself to sleep.

And Saori, I think you're lovely (:

For the past week, I have been pondering which word best describes me - fatuous or imprudent. I thought about it and arrived at the word both. One friend describes my singlehood as a breakthrough. I was like WHAT THE HECK! It is funny really as I look back and feel amused by my casaanovish chronicles. So as I continue to grow spiritually, I begin to see life at a different angle. I tell myself that I want to live for something bigger than me, myself and I. And I'm ubberly grateful to God for putting me where I am especially in this aspect.

There're a couple of revelations that struck me last month. I shall attempt to share one today.

The first one is about legalistic christianity. Over the years, I have encountered teachings dealing with the worldly marketplace and how we should instead retreat to holy grounds. Believers have been advised to stay away from hard rock music, trendy apparels, secular careers, fashion, celebrity and that latest whatever hiphop in town. Heavy music with clashy drums and distorting electric guitar have been taught to be instruments of the devil and are hence removed from church worship. And the local cinema is said to be the devil's playground where he plants seeds of destruction in the mind of the indulgence.

So one fine morning while I was listening to this song titled King Of The Stereo by this metal-rock band Saliva (which I think is a great song anyway), I asked myself, who really is the King of the Stereo? Then, flashes of popular musicians such as Metallica, Joe Satriani, Kanye West, Rage Against The Machine, Led Zeppelin, My Chemical Romance, Black Sabbath and Fall Out Boy came into my mind. One thing common among these artistes is the powerful influence their music have on their fans. It is worrying lately, that people are turning to lyrics that promote profanities, the curse of the society, racism, the bad childhood, the abusive drunken father and how people are recklessly killing one another for whatever reasons.

At the back of my head, I see Satan pretty much dominating the music scene, as He actively propagates the spirit of individualism, idoltary and the many peril familiar to man. Then I thought, why can't we use these weapons of the devil against him?! I can jolly use a rap song to speak of God's goodness from A to Z! I can use everything - heavy metal, R&B, poprock, emo-rock, english pop, chinese pop, malay rock, tamil rock to praise Jesus!

Psalms 150 says:

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

GIG @ BEN & JERRYS'

A BIG XIE XIE to those who came to watch me play on Friday! I was super surprised to see Jenno and Myra! Thanks girls! I hope you enjoyed the ice cream! Haha!

And not forgetting my wondelicious cell group who also came to support! And thank you Celine for being such a sweetie! Call me babe! I'll give you a treat sometime this week!

This week has been such a burnt-out! Time seems to be shrinking so rapidly and I barely have enough air to breathe. My to-do list is pilling up so endlessly, it gets me lost. Now, I'm thinking of using my white board to schedule out the stuff that I have to do. I'm dead exhausted. And the last thing I need right now is a break. Ahhhh!!

And thank God for his goodness, Jon entered the finals of the Emerge Solo Vocalist! And I made through the finals of the Song Composition category! Let's rejoice! Yayyyy!

Check out the Emerge competition here!

And in preparation for the finals, I was told by the organizer to prepare some childhood photos of myself. So last night, I was rampaging through this super gigantic box of photos and found these!

PS: I'm so going to bore you!
